This guided rafting adventure begins at our operational base in El Chaltén (Av. San Martín 872), where participants are provided with all the technical and safety equipment needed. After gearing up, you’ll be driven a short distance (5 blocks) to the river. On the banks of the Río de las Vueltas, our guides offer a technical and safety briefing, including paddle techniques and team coordination instructions.
The first section of the river features calm waters and scenic meanders, offering breathtaking views of Mount Fitz Roy and its satellite peaks. You’ll travel approximately 6 km through Andean forest and into the Patagonian steppe. This stretch allows time to enjoy the landscape, practice paddling techniques, and spot local wildlife such as condors, foxes, armadillos, and guanacos.
The second section, about 10 km, winds through a natural canyon, featuring around 20 class III to III+ rapids — ideal for adventure seekers. The entire rafting time on the river is about 2 hours, balancing nature contemplation with an exciting dose of action.
At the end of the journey, participants are offered a warm snack (tea or coffee and a sweet or savory treat). Our vehicle awaits at the RP23 bridge to return everyone to the operational base.

Meeting Point – 9:45 AM / 2:15 PM
Guests are welcomed at our operational base located at Av. San Martín 872 in El Chaltén. We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time to allow for check-in and gear fitting.
Start of Activity – 10:00 AM / 2:30 PM
After a brief introduction from the guides, participants are equipped with all the necessary technical and safety gear. Once ready, the group is transferred by vehicle just a few blocks to the riverbank of the Río de las Vueltas.
Safety Briefing & Warm-Up – 10:15 AM / 2:45 PM
Upon arrival at the river, the guide leads a comprehensive safety talk, explaining how to handle the paddle, follow commands, and work in unison as a team. The group then sets off on the first part of the route — calm waters perfect for warming up, practicing techniques, and enjoying the scenery.
Rafting Adventure – 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM / 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
The journey covers approximately 16 kilometers in total. The first 6 km flow through gentle meanders surrounded by lush Andean forest and spectacular views of Mount Fitz Roy and its jagged peaks. This is a great opportunity to spot local birds and wildlife.
The excitement builds in the second section — a 10 km stretch where the river narrows into a canyon and presents around 20 thrilling Class III to III+ rapids. Expect splashes, laughs, and an adrenaline rush in a breathtaking natural setting.
Return & Snack – 12:30 PM / 5:00 PM
After navigating the last rapid, the group disembarks near the concrete bridge on RP23. Here, a warm snack awaits — enjoy a hot drink and a sweet or savory treat to recharge.
Back to Base – 1:00 PM / 5:30 PM
Our vehicle will be waiting to transport the group back to the base in El Chaltén. The experience concludes with time to change, relax, and reflect on the adventure.

No experience is necessary. The activity is designed for beginners and includes a full safety briefing and instruction from professional bilingual guides.
The minimum age is 12 years old. Participants aged 12 to 17 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Just bring a swimsuit to wear under the wetsuit, a towel, and a change of clothes for after the activity. All rafting gear is provided.
Hotel pick-up and drop-off are not included, but can be added as an optional service.
