Almost all of our tours are done in small groups. All of them have english speaking guides.
It is a full-day excursion in the steppe area. Departure at 09:00 am. The estimated return is 4:30 pm.
It is aimed at all people who like outdoor activities and adventure, willing to discover new places. Average physical fitness is required since the tour includes approximately 3 hours of discontinuous walking on uneven terrain.
It starts from El Calafate, traveling 33 km along the provincial route No. 5 towards the East and then 67 km towards the North along the national route No. 40. During this journey, you can see the Argentino Lake, the Santa Cruz River, the La Leona River, and its beautiful valley, with a panoramic view of the Andes Mountains, including Fitz Roy Hill. Stop for approximately 15 minutes at Hotel La Leona (historical site) and continue 10 km west, following the southern margin of Lake Viedma, until we reach the slope of Cerro Los Hornos (Estancia Santa Teresita), where we arrive around 12:00 pm.
We look for the first time at the enormous depression of the land where the petrified logs are, and we begin our exploration walk among the fossils. Halfway through the tour, we stop for lunch. Along the hike, we will see many petrified logs that lie on the surface, some with a diameter of 1.20 meters, a testimony of ancient times when the weather was very different from today and allowed the support of abundant and large flora. Occasionally fossil remains of different types of dinosaurs are discovered. Being in the steppe area is very dry, and the weather conditions generally are very pleasant.
We begin the return at approximately 2:00 pm with a new stop at the “Parador” Hotel La Leona, and we arrive in Calafate around 4:30 pm to 5:00 pm.

a. Up to 72 hours before the start of the activity: full refund (again, we indicate that in certain specific cases, the term may differ from this general policy)
b. After 72 hours before the start of the activity: no refund.
