Between 7:30 and 9 am (the schedule will be reconfirmed the previous day), we begin with the search of passengers by their respective hotels in El Chalten by minibus, to drive it to the beginning of the trail, which is located 18 km from El Chaltén, in the Hostería The pillar.
Shortly before arriving, a stop is made at a panoramic point overlooking the Fitz Roy Valley. Then, you reach the head of the path, where the pedestrian activity begins, and we enter a forest of lengas and ñires bordering the White River. Following this path, a 1:15 hour walk will reach the viewpoint with an excellent view of the Piedras Blancas Glacier.
After this stop, take some photographs and receive information from the guide. About 45 minutes after, you will reach the Poincenot camp: where there will surely be trekker tents of different nationalities. Then, very close, the river is crossed by a suspension bridge to reach the Base Camp “Río Blanco”, which is only used by climbers.
Here you will find, for National Parks, protection of logs that serves to take refuge in bad weather. From this point, for those with more energy, the guide will take them to the Mirador de Laguna de Los Tres, which, starting from Río Blanco, is 500 meters high in 1 hour more trekking.
From this viewpoint, you can see the spectacular view of the Fitz Roy Massif, the lagoon, and its glaciers. A few meters away, you can also discover an excellent view of the Laguna Sucia.
After lunch, you return to El Chaltén along the path that passes through the Mirador de Laguna Capri. You will return to the town or your hotel between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm.
