The Ushuaia city tour offers visitors a captivating exploration of the southernmost city in the world, nestled between the towering peaks of the Andes and the pristine waters of the Beagle Channel. Typically guided by knowledgeable locals, the tour begins with a panoramic drive through the city’s picturesque streets, providing a glimpse of its charming architecture and vibrant culture. Along the way, highlights may include landmarks such as the historic Old Prison, which offers insights into Ushuaia’s past as a penal colony, and the iconic End of the World signpost, marking the southernmost point accessible by road. Visitors can also expect to visit scenic viewpoints overlooking the Beagle Channel, where they can marvel at the rugged beauty of the surrounding landscapes and perhaps catch a glimpse of local wildlife, such as sea lions or dolphins. Additionally, the tour may include stops at cultural attractions like museums or art galleries, offering further opportunities to learn about the region’s rich history and heritage.
Ushuaia, capital of Tierra del Fuego, is located on the shores of the Beagle Channel and surrounded by the Martiales mountains, which offers a unique landscape in Argentina thanks to a combination of mountains, sea, forests, and glaciers.
We will visit the Barrio La Misión (the place where the city was founded in 1884), the Provincial Legislature (former Government House), and the upper area of the city which will not allow us to enjoy an incredible panoramic view of Ushuaia and the Beagle Channel.
During the tour, we will also be able to appreciate the old houses belonging to the first Fuegian families.
On the way back we will visit the manufacturing area, to end our tour at the Maritime Museum and the Presidio of the city of Ushuaia. Those who wish can go down there to visit it (entrance to the museum not included) or continue on the bus back to their Hotel.
