The Building
An extensive copper covering acquires a green hue that blends seamlessly with the natural landscape. Its stone claddings are an example of material recovery: the same rock extracted during its construction is what reemerges in its imposing facade. Reclaimed wood from lenga and ñire trees, as well as old oak barrels, find a new home in floors, claddings, and elegant decor. Its spacious areas utilize natural lighting to ensure efficient resource use while allowing appreciation of the stunning panoramic views.
Through these sustainable construction actions, the hotel’s gas and electric consumption is reduced to one-third of what a traditional construction would demand.

Cerro Alarkén Natural Reserve
Just minutes from the city center, the Cerro Alarkén Natural Reserve is a space of over 100 hectares dedicated to nature preservation and home to various species of Fuegian flora and fauna. Foxes, black eagles, and condors are some of the inhabitants that can be found along its trails through streams and forests of lenga, ñire, and coihue trees. From the Summit, a natural panoramic viewpoint, you can appreciate unique views of the Canal and the Bay with its mountains, valleys, and glaciers.
Among its attractions is a very special area: the Turbal. These formations, originated from ancient glacial retreat lagoons, are very important for the scientific community as they preserve environmental information for thousands of years, allowing the study of temperature evolution and other environmental factors. Additionally, they perform various functions that contribute to biodiversity and climate change mitigation.

One of my favourites! The Arakur Resort and Spa is simply marvelous. It’s a hotel nestled on Cerro Alarken, offering an unparalleled view of the city of Ushuaia and the bay. The hotel is excellent for several reasons: the service is wonderful, its spa is particularly outstanding, with a fabulous heated pool and jacuzzis with incredible views. The hotel offers excellent gastronomy with typical local dishes, and the accommodation service is in line with its 5-star rating. Additionally, being located in a natural enclave, the hotel allows for various hikes from there, to delve into a beautiful mountain forest. Undoubtedly, a highly recommended hotel to enjoy Ushuaia and its surroundings.
