OVERVIEW

The excursion begins at the Bajo de las Sombras port, located on Route 11, Km 70.9 — about 1.5 hours from El Calafate and just 7 km from the Glacier. Passengers must make their own way to the port.

Once there, you’ll board a boat and begin your navigation across Lago Rico. From the comfort of the vessel, you’ll enjoy a unique perspective of the towering ice wall of the Perito Moreno Glacier and the massive icebergs that break off into the lake.

The navigation lasts approximately one hour. At about 400 meters from the southern face of the glacier, the boat will stop for several minutes, allowing you to take in the scenery up close. You won’t get any closer to the rupture zone than this!

The Nautical Safari is suitable for all ages and operates year-round, 365 days a year.

This experience is ideal for those who want to witness the magic of the glacier and capture unforgettable photographs of its ice formations and surroundings.

ITINERARY

The tour begins at the Bajo las Sombras port, located on Route 11, Km 70.9, approximately 1.5 hours from El Calafate and just 7 km from the Glacier.
Passengers must make their own way to the port.

Once there, you’ll board a ship to navigate Lago Rico, offering a truly unique vantage point from the southern face of the Perito Moreno Glacier — an area you won’t see from the walkways.
(Note: The northern face of the glacier is visited on the Moreno Spirit navigation.)

During this 1-hour boat ride, you’ll sail along the glacier’s towering walls, getting remarkably close to the ice. The boat stops at just 400 meters from the southern wall, giving you an unparalleled opportunity to observe and film the massive ice formations, brilliant blue hues, and the thrilling icefalls as huge chunks of ice crash into Lago Rico.

This is an excellent chance to capture stunning videos and photographs — closer, more dynamic, and at water level, offering a perspective completely different from the elevated viewing platforms of the National Park.
