Visit the main attractions of the park: Visitor Center, Fort Bulnes (National Historic Monument), Estrecho viewpoint, Coastal Trail, and Puerto de Hambre (National Historic Monument). The route borders the mythical Strait of Magellan, where you can observe a large number of seabirds such as oystercatchers, wild geese, various species of ducks, cormorants, and on a fortunate day, perhaps dolphins and sea lions. The park is located 52 km south of the city of Punta Arenas and offers a variety of activities.
The excursion to Parque del Estrecho and Fuerte Bulnes offers an immersive journey through the captivating blend of natural splendor and historical significance near Punta Arenas, Chile. Located just 53 kilometers south of the city, the park sprawls across 130 hectares of pristine forests along the picturesque coastline of the legendary Strait of Magellan. Visitors begin their adventure at the park’s informative Visitor Center, delving into the rich tapestry of flora, fauna, and human history that characterizes the region. A highlight of the excursion is the exploration of Fuerte Bulnes, a National Historic Monument dating back to 1843, which stands as a testament to Chile’s early colonization efforts in the area. From the commanding heights of Mirador del Estrecho, travelers are treated to sweeping vistas of the strait, dotted with passing ships and teeming with seabirds and marine life. Along the Sendero de la Costa, a coastal trail, nature enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the diverse ecosystems while keeping an eye out for avian and terrestrial wildlife.
