We depart from the downtown office in our vehicles heading to the former Ushuaia airport, where we will have a brief safety talk before taking off in helicopters.
We take off towards the North, flying over Ushuaia Bay, the port, and the city, gaining altitude to enter the Olivia River Valley. Easily visible are the majestic Mount Olivia and the characteristic Five Brothers Mountain. We will then begin to glimpse the magnificent Carbajal Valley, with its surprising composition of peat formed over thousands of years due to the existence of a previous extensive glacier tongue.
