The walk to the Turquoise Lagoon and Monte Carbajal is a tour through one of the most beautiful and least visited places in Tierra del Fuego. The tour starts from our office at Roca 136, with a short transfer to the Tierra Mayor Valley. Once there, we will start with a demanding hike begins that rewards with the wonderful turquoise color of this glacial lagoon. There, we will take time to rest and enjoy this place located in the Sierra Sorondo.
The first part of the hike has a steep slope, in which the centenary Fuegian subantarctic forest surrounds the walker. After 45 or 60 minutes of demanding walking the forest is left behind, and from the top, we will start enjoying the incredible views. In addition to the small turquoise lagoon, as we carry on uphill along the mountain edge, we reach the top of Mount Carbajal. From there, we can see clearly the tracks of the glaciers that during the last Ice Age occupied the Tierra Mayor and Carbajal valleys, and moved towards the Beagle Channel, while shaping this unique landscape, an imposing and unforgettable view.
