Your day begins at 8:45 AM at our operational base in El Chaltén (Av. San Martín 872), where you’ll check in and meet your bilingual guides. After a warm welcome, you’ll be fitted with all the technical and safety equipment needed for the float, including a wetsuit, microfleece layer, life vest, helmet, neoprene boots, and a dry bag for your personal items.
At 9:00 AM, once everyone is geared up and ready, you’ll receive a short safety and technical briefing. Then, you’ll board our support vehicle for a 40-minute drive along the scenic RP 41 toward the Lago del Desierto area. The road winds through dramatic Patagonian landscapes, setting the stage for the peaceful journey ahead.
Around 10:10 AM, you’ll arrive at the Condor Lagoon Viewpoint, the starting point of the float. After final gear checks and getting your paddle in hand, you’ll launch into the calm, meandering waters of the Río de las Vueltas. The river flows gently through lush Andean-Patagonian forest, offering stunning views of the north face of Mount Fitz Roy in the distance. This stretch of the river is shallow and serene, making it ideal for a relaxing nature experience—perfect for families, beginners, and nature lovers.
The float covers approximately 12 kilometers and lasts between 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on river conditions and wind. By 11:40 AM, you’ll reach Estancia Bonanza, where you’ll step back onto land and change into dry clothes. Guests who haven’t chosen the lunch option will soon be transferred back to El Chaltén, arriving around 1:00 PM.
For those who have opted to enjoy a traditional Patagonian meal, a delicious lunch will be served around 12:15 PM. The menu typically includes lamb barbecue (asado al asador) or Curanto al hoyo, accompanied by fresh salads, warm side dishes, dessert, and a drink (non-alcoholic or a glass of wine). The dining area offers breathtaking views of Fitz Roy, making the meal a highlight of the experience.
After a relaxed lunch and some time to soak in the surroundings, the return transfer to El Chaltén departs around 3:00 PM, with arrival back at the base around 3:30 PM.
