Begin your adventure with early morning pick up from your hotel in El Calafate. After a scenic drive across the steppe you will arrive at Puerto Banderas, where the day begins with the first navigation across Lago Argentino. The boat travels through quiet channels toward the remote Pioneros port.
From here, a second sailing continues along Lago Frías, a small and emerald colored lake surrounded by forests and steep mountains. Once you reach the shore, your guide leads a trekking circuit that lasts about five hours and covers approximately thirteen kilometers. The route is considered moderate and features short ascents, forested sections, open valleys, and panoramic viewpoints facing hanging glaciers.
Around midday the group stops for a picnic lunch. When conditions are favorable, lunch is enjoyed at an outdoor viewpoint near the glacier. If strong winds or rain are present, the group returns to the forest and eats inside the heated dome near Lago Frías, where hot drinks are available.
After finishing the hike you return to the boat for the afternoon navigation back toward the Glaciar Sur dock. A final drive returns you to your hotel in El Calafate around early evening.
