Getting to Torres del Paine

Most travelers arrive at Torres del Paine from either Puerto Natales in Chile or El Calafate in Argentina. Both routes offer scenic views and several transportation options.

From Puerto Natales

The closest town to the park is Puerto Natales, located about 2–3 hours by bus from Torres del Paine. This town is the main gateway for visitors entering the park.

Bus services operate regularly from Puerto Natales to the park entrance. Although Punta Arenas is another nearby city, Puerto Natales is the preferred base for most tourists.

Bus prices range from $15–30 USD one way, depending on the company and the season.

From El Calafate (Argentina)

If you’re coming from El Calafate, you can take a daily bus to Puerto Natales. From there, take a local bus to Torres del Paine.

The journey from El Calafate to Puerto Natales takes about 5 hours. Then, expect another 2–3 hours by bus to reach the park.

Transportation Within Torres del Paine

Park Shuttle Services

The park has shuttle buses that connect key sites, such as the trailheads for the W and O trekking routes. These are often used by hikers to travel between starting points and campsites.

You can pre-book these shuttles or arrange them through hotels and lodges around the park. Prices vary depending on the distance but usually cost $20–50 USD for a one-way trip.

Private Transfers

For more flexibility, consider private transfers within or to the park. These are ideal for groups or travelers with specific schedules and offer a more personalized experience.

Renting a Car

Renting a car is possible, but it’s not a common choice. The park has remote areas and gravel roads, which may be challenging for inexperienced drivers.

However, car rentals might be a good option if you want to explore nearby regions outside the park at your own pace.
