Helicopter Ride over Emerald Lagoon in Ushuaia (15 mins)

The helicopter ride in Ushuaia offers an extraordinary adventure, particularly the 15-minute flight to the mesmerizing Emerald Lagoon. Departing from the downtown area, you’ll embark on a journey that takes you soaring over Ushuaia Bay, offering panoramic views of the bustling port and the charming city below.

As the helicopter gains altitude, you’ll be treated to a bird’s-eye view of the rugged terrain of Tierra del Fuego, with its snow-capped peaks and winding rivers. Soon, you’ll enter the Olivia River Valley, where the imposing Mount Olivia and the distinctive Five Brothers Mountain come into view, creating a dramatic backdrop for your flight.

Continuing on, you’ll be awestruck by the sight of the Carbajal Valley, its landscape shaped over millennia by glaciers, resulting in a breathtaking composition of peat and vegetation. Flying deeper into the valley, you’ll encounter the jewel of the region – the Emerald Lagoon. Nestled amidst the mountains, this stunning body of water captivates with its vibrant turquoise hue, a result of mineral deposits and glacial melt.

The helicopter provides the perfect vantage point to admire the lagoon’s pristine beauty and the surrounding wilderness. From high above, you’ll appreciate the sheer magnitude of the landscape and the untouched wilderness of Tierra del Fuego.

We depart from the downtown office in our vehicles heading to the former Ushuaia airport, where we will have a brief safety talk before taking off in helicopters.

We take off towards the North, flying over Ushuaia Bay, the port, and the city, gaining altitude to enter the Olivia River Valley. Easily visible are the majestic Mount Olivia and the characteristic Five Brothers Mountain. We will then begin to glimpse the magnificent Carbajal Valley, with its surprising composition of peat formed over thousands of years due to the existence of a previous extensive glacier tongue. Continuing our flight through this interesting valley, we will access a second mountain range housing a beautiful body of water, known as Emerald Lagoon due to its color. This site, captivating us with its extraordinary color and surroundings, is one of the most visited attractions by tourists arriving in Ushuaia, especially by trekking and camping enthusiasts.

Finally, we return to the heliport where the transfer will be waiting for us.
