The experience begins with a scenic drive from Ushuaia along National Route No. 3, crossing Paso Garibaldi into the heart of the Fuegian Andes. Upon arrival at the rural estancia near Lago Escondido, guests are welcomed into the natural environment where the horses live freely.
The horseback ride lasts approximately one hour and unfolds at a calm, mindful pace. The first section takes place around the horses’ home, allowing visitors to observe how they live in harmony with their surroundings, while the first glimpses of Lago Escondido appear through the landscape.
The ride continues along a quiet stretch of the old Route No. 3, creating a meditative moment to connect with the rhythm of the horse and the ancient subantarctic forest. Along the way, the silence of nature and the fresh mountain air define the experience.
On the return, the route reaches a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the lake, followed by the crossing of a beaver dam area, where wildlife may be spotted. The descent along the enchanting “Fairy Trail”, a natural tunnel formed by trees covered in old man’s beard lichen, leads to the final stretch along the lakeshore.
Before arriving back at the cabin, the ride passes through the “Forest of Giants”, where centuries-old lenga trees accompany the closing moments of the journey. The experience ends with a snack breakfast or afternoon tea before returning to Ushuaia.
For those wishing to extend the experience, a traditional Patagonian lunch with asado is available as an optional upgrade.
