Friendly Itinerary
Pick-up in El Calafate
Your evening begins with pick-up from your accommodation in El Calafate. From there, travel approximately 30 km to Estancia La Catalina, leaving the city lights behind and entering the quiet Patagonian landscape.
Stargazing at Estancia La Catalina
Upon arrival, you will receive a warm poncho and meet the astronomer who will guide the experience.
Start with an introduction to the southern night sky, learning how to recognize stars and constellations, locate cardinal points and discover some of the mythology and Indigenous knowledge associated with the sky.
You will then use telescopes and binoculars to observe the celestial objects visible that night. Depending on the season, lunar cycle and weather conditions, these may include the Moon, planets, stars, nebulae, the Milky Way and other deep-sky objects.
During the experience, a photograph of you or your group with the Patagonian night sky in the background will also be taken as a souvenir.
Hot Drinks & Return to El Calafate
Before leaving the estancia, enjoy hot drinks and a selection of sweet treats, including tea, coffee, mate cocido, alfajores, cakes and dulce de leche.
After approximately two hours at the estancia, return to El Calafate with drop-off at your accommodation.
Total duration: approximately 3 hours.
